Executive Assistant to the Chief of Staff
The Executive Assistant will work closely with the Chief of Staff, providing critical support to the organization’s campaigns, communications, field organizing and development programs. The Executive Assistant will support program and executive management functions, organizational expansion plans, and coordinate scheduling and logistical needs. This is a position for an accomplished organizer who enjoys the management and administrative systems needed to run campaigns and organizations effectively.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Organize special projects with and for the Chief of Staff.
- Manage the Chief of Staff’s scheduling and calendar.
- Schedule and prepare materials and agendas for the organization’s management team and staff meetings, take and distribute notes, and ensure next steps are communicated and implemented.

Communications:
Publications Director/Senior Writer
The Publications Director/Senior Writer will be responsible for directing the production of and writing for a range of campaign/organizational materials. This staff leader will work with the Communications Director to develop strategic communications plans, manage staff, and train staff and activists in essential writing, messaging and design.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage publications calendar and oversee creative direction for materials.
- Draft, edit and proof materials and web content.
- Develop and implement Corporate Accountability International’s strategic communications plan.
- Manage materials budget.
- Manage contracts and relationships with design, print, and other vendors.

Development:
Managing Director of Development
The Managing Director of Development will join a strong and committed staff team to help fuel organizational expansion. Our development unit focuses on building partnerships with individual donors and foundations, through face-to-face meetings, phone calls, direct mail and online outreach. The Managing Director of Development recruits, manages and trains all staff in the development unit, and oversees major gifts, mail, phone and online fundraising programs.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Play a lead role in developing and implementing annual fundraising plans, budgets and monthly cash flow projections for multiple streams, including from mail, online, phone and face-to-face fundraising.
- Manage 6-8 development staff, including a team of major gifts officers that secures $1,000 - $10,000 level gifts from individual donors.
- Manage direct mail consultant to develop and implement short- and long-range plans to grow our membership base through mail and online outreach.
- Oversee an in-house all staff phone bank twice a year.
- Build partnerships with philanthropists in person, over the phone and in writing.
- Work closely with the Director of Philanthropic Partnerships and other top leaders to drive organizational expansion and long-range funding strategies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date files, records and systems.

Regional Campaign Organizer
Corporate Accountability International is seeking experienced organizers to build our nationwide network of trained and committed activists taking on corporate power. Join us to recruit and mobilize the long-term political base and power needed to wage and win our corporate campaigns.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and run regional Think Outside the Bottle campaigns to pressure Governors, Mayors, restaurants and schools to curb bottled water use and invest in badly needed public water systems and infrastructure.
- Lead the national grassroots movement challenging McDonald’s and other fast food giants to stop driving an epidemic of diet-related diseases.
- Build and strengthen Corporate Accountability International’s power base, membership, and capacity to run effective campaigns through organizing Action Committees in major cities across the country.
- Recruit, train and mobilize members to lead campaign actions in their communities to hold transnational corporate targets accountable.

This is a skills-building internship program, in which interns will take on significant projects to advance Corporate Accountability International’s mission, including our Think Outside the Bottle Campaign, challenging corporate control of water, our Value [the] Meal campaign, challenging corporate abuse of our food and out Campaign Challenging Big Tobacco. The projects will be coupled with training sessions with a variety of staff members and guest trainers. Sample training topics include action planning, campaign research, media outreach, fundraising, recruitment, direct pressure tactics, and many others.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works most closely with the National Organizers and Campaign Directors to organize activists at the local, regional, national or international level,

Community Organizing and Administration Internship
The Community Organizing and Administration Intern will work with Corporate Accountability’s Field organizing unit to help to build local groups of volunteers, called Action Committees, in key cities across the country. The Intern will play a key role in recruiting and building relationships with key volunteers and tracking and monitoring the progress of our volunteers and organizers.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works closely with Regional Campaign Organizers to organize volunteers in key US cities to build local groups of volunteers.
- Designing and laying out of organizing materials.
- Creating and managing systems for recording and tracking volunteer and campaign progress.

Development and Membership Outreach Internship
The Development and Membership Outreach Intern will work with our team of fundraisers and membership outreach staff as they organize and engage our members across the US in support of our campaigns.

- Lead and track efforts to cultivate members and develop their understanding of our campaigns,
- Help coordinate and carryout several aspects of an all-staff end of year phone bank,
- Help design and coordinate special mailings to specific member groups,

Marketing & Communications Internship
Corporate Accountability International is engaged in a social marketing initiative to accomplish three goals:
- shift markets away from socially and environmentally destructive products (such as single-serve plastic water bottles) and toward sustainable and ethical alternatives;
- build the Corporate Accountability International brand identity to raise the organization’s profile, expand the reach of the organization’s campaigns, and, above all, raise awareness about the issues;
- diversify the organization’s revenue stream.
The Marketing & Communications Intern will work with our Communications unit to develop and implement targeted social enterprise objectives that serve these goals.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Marketing & Communications Intern will research, develop, and implement business plans for merchandizing products associated with our campaigns. S/he will do this by:
- Spearheading product development efforts
- Managing and improving day to day operations of an online campaign storefront

The Online Intern will be supporting the Communications Team in updating the websites, sending online communications to members and activists, updating and organizing on social networking sites. Research Internship
The Research Intern will support our organizers and researchers in conducting research and analysis needed to develop and implement our campaigns, particularly our Campaign Challenging Corporate Control of Water, our Campaign Challenging the Corporate Abuse of Our Food and our campaign challenging the World Bank’s promotion of water privatization. Specifically, the Research Intern will:
- Further develop the Think Outside the Bottle campaign and our analysis of the bottled water industry’s practices and impacts, including water sourcing, quality testing, packaging materials and energy use, and groundwater extraction;
- Monitor and analyze developments in national and international policy regarding the bottled water industry, water and human rights, and funding for water infrastructure; help identify and evaluate key players in these policy arenas.
- Assess and analyze information regarding the various vehicles for water privatization, and help analyze World Bank process and projects involving water resources management that promote privatization;
- Advance the Value [the] Meal campaign strategies, with a focus on the fast food industry’s impacts on public health, marketing practices, and interference in nutrition and health policy;
- Monitor, track and provide analysis on issues relevant to diet-related diseases and the fast food industry, including childhood obesity, local policy initiatives and the marketing of unhealthy foods to children;
- Develop corporate research profiles that track industry performance and trends as well as provide detailed information relevant to the operations of our corporate targets; and
- Assist with the preparation of written materials for internal and external consumption, which may include corporate profiles, blog postings, communications to our tens of thousands of members, and other campaign materials.
By gathering, analyzing, synthesizing and tracking information using a variety of sources and approaches, the Research Intern will help lay the foundation for the next phase of our campaigns.
